While you wait

• Stop running taps, the dishwasher, the washer, and the toilet. Every litre you send down comes back up.
• Keep kids and pets out of the water. Sewage is not a mop-and-bucket job while it is still rising.
• If you have a sump pump, check that it has power and that the float can move. Do not reach into the pit.
• A gurgling toilet when the washer drains is an early sign the main line is slow. Stop the washer.
• If the backup is only one bathroom and the rest of the house drains, say so when you call. That changes where we start.
